A Complete Verification Guide for Donors

Trust is the most important currency in any direct giving relationship. Before you send money to a stranger across the world, you should be able to verify that the recipient is who they claim to be, that the need is real, and that the funds will be used as stated. This page exists to give you everything you need to make that verification confidently.

My name is Mohammed Z. Al-Shanti. I am 35 years old. I am a Palestinian agricultural engineer originally from Gaza City. I have been registered with the Palestinian Agricultural Engineers Association since I completed my degree. My professional registration is verifiable through the Association's records. My name appears in graduate registries from my university. My identity is established in the public record in ways that should withstand scrutiny.

The Eight Pillars of My Verification

I have organized the verification evidence into eight specific categories. A donor who reviews all eight should be confident in the campaign's legitimacy. A donor who reviews even three should have enough to make a small initial donation safely.

  1. Government-Issued Identity Documents. My Palestinian Authority national identity card, partially redacted to protect against identity theft but with name, date of birth, and location of issue clearly visible. The full document is available through GoGetFunding's verification process where the platform itself has reviewed it.
  2. Professional Registration. I am a registered agricultural engineer with the Palestinian Agricultural Engineers Association. My membership number, registration date, and professional standing are matters of public record verifiable by anyone who contacts the Association directly.
  3. Educational Records. My university degree from Al-Azhar University Gaza is on record. The university maintains graduate listings. My presence in the registry confirms my educational background as I have stated it.
  4. Displacement Documentation. Records confirming the loss of my prior residence and current displacement status. These records exist with multiple humanitarian agencies operating in Gaza, including UNRWA and several NGOs that have processed displacement registrations.
  5. Family Composition Records. My marriage certificate, the birth registration of my son Ibrahim (2020), and the birth registration of my daughter (December 2025). These are administrative records that can be verified through Palestinian civil registry channels.
  6. GoGetFunding Independent Verification. My GoGetFunding campaign at goget.fund/3VfYThz went through that platform's separate verification process. GoGetFunding has its own KYC and identity confirmation procedures that I completed before being allowed to fundraise on their platform.
  7. Continuous Diary Record. The donatetogaza.org diary contains regular entries dating back to the start of the campaign. The continuity, the specific details, the photographs, and the consistency of voice across many months establish that this is a real ongoing account, not a static fabricated page.
  8. Donor Testimonials and Repeat Donor Patterns. Hundreds of donors have given to this campaign over multiple cycles. Many have given monthly for over a year. The pattern of repeat giving from donors who have privately verified the campaign through messaging, video calls, or independent checking is itself a form of social proof.

How to Independently Verify a Gaza Fundraiser

Beyond what is presented on this page, you can independently verify any Gaza fundraiser (including mine) using a small set of techniques that do not require special access:

  • Reverse image search. Take any photograph the campaign claims is the family or the location, drop it into Google Images or TinEye, and check whether the photo appears elsewhere on the internet under a different attribution. Fraudulent campaigns frequently steal photos. Real campaigns have unique photos that do not appear elsewhere.
  • Cross-platform consistency. Check that the campaign exists on multiple platforms (PayPal, GoGetFunding, social media) with consistent identity, photos, and family details. A campaign that exists on only one platform with no public footprint elsewhere is harder to verify.
  • Time depth. A campaign that has been continuously active for over a year, with regular updates, is much harder to fake than a campaign created last week. Check the earliest dated entry and consider whether the campaign has the time depth to be real.
  • Direct contact. Email the campaign organizer with a specific question about something on the website. Real organizers respond personally. Scam operations either do not respond or send templated messages.
  • Receipt and update specificity. Real campaigns post specific, dated, photographed updates with receipts and details. Vague campaigns with stock language are red flags.
  • Small test donation. If you remain uncertain, send a small test donation ($5 to $20) and see whether the recipient acknowledges it personally and reports back on its use. A real recipient will. A scam will either disappear or send generic thanks.

What I Commit to in Exchange for Your Trust

Verification is not a one-time event. It is an ongoing relationship. Here is what I commit to in exchange for the trust of donors who choose to give:

  • I will respond personally to any donor who messages me with a specific question about their donation.
  • I will publish dated diary updates regularly with what donations have funded.
  • I will photograph receipts for major spending categories (rent, formula bulk purchases, large food orders) and make them available to donors who ask.
  • I will not run multiple anonymous accounts seeking donations under different names. There is one campaign, one PayPal, one GoGetFunding, one me.
  • I will be honest when something goes wrong. If a donation was misallocated, if I made a mistake in a diary entry, if there is something a donor should know, I will say so rather than hide it.
  • I will keep this verification page updated as my situation changes, including any updates to documentation, family composition, or location.

Common Verification Questions

Why do you redact your full ID? Identity theft is a real concern, especially in a context where official documents are difficult to replace. The full ID is shared selectively with platforms (GoGetFunding) that have legal frameworks around handling sensitive data. The redacted version on the public page shows enough to confirm identity without exposing sensitive numbers.

How do I know the photos on this site are really you and your family? Reverse image search them. They will not appear elsewhere on the internet under different attribution because they are original. The photos in the diary entries also show consistent family members across many months, which would be impossible to fabricate convincingly.

What if I am still uncertain? Send a small test donation through PayPal or USDT TRC20 (cheapest network fee). Email me with the transaction reference. I will respond personally and tell you specifically what your donation funded. If that interaction satisfies you, decide whether to give more. If it does not, do not.

Is there an authority I can contact to verify you independently? The Palestinian Agricultural Engineers Association maintains professional registration records. UNRWA has displacement registrations. GoGetFunding has independent verification of the campaign. None of these will share information about me proactively, but a sufficiently motivated independent investigator could cross-check my identity through these channels.

Why So Much Verification Effort

You may wonder why I spend so much energy on verification documentation. The answer is simple: I am asking strangers in other countries to send me money. The basic ethical response to that ask is to make verification as easy and as thorough as possible. If a donor wants to confirm I am real, I want them to be able to confirm it in five minutes rather than spend hours on detective work.

I also know that scams targeting Gaza donations exist. Bad actors set up fake campaigns and steal from people who genuinely want to help. Every dollar that goes to a scam is a dollar that does not reach a real family. I have an interest in the broader donor ecosystem being trustworthy. Part of how I contribute to that is by setting a high standard for my own verification, and by helping donors learn to verify other campaigns generally.

A Final Note

If you have read this page in full, you have done more verification work than most donors do for any campaign. Thank you for taking it seriously. Your care reflects on every campaign you give to and on the broader culture of cross-border giving.

If you are now ready to give, you can donate via PayPal at paypal.com donate link, via GoGetFunding at goget.fund/3VfYThz, or via cryptocurrency at donatetogaza.org/donate-crypto.

If you are not ready, that is also fine. Take more time. Cross-check more. Send a small amount first. There is no pressure here. The campaign continues either way and the verification is here whenever you are ready to give.
